Galaxy Safari | Stromlo Stargazing Experience

Mount Stromlo Observatory, only 20 minutes drive away from Canberra, has been carrying out astronomical observations for over 100 years, and before the 2003 firestorm, had grown from a small outpost of pioneering astronomers to one of the world's great observatories. 

Now you can see it yourself through the unique opportunity of a Galaxy Safari!

Led by a team of professional or experienced amateur astronomers from the Research School of Astronomy & Astrophysics and the Canberra Astronomical Society, our Galaxy Safari include after-hours access to the observatory, the use of Mt Stromlo’s outreach telescopes, and most important: guided tour to the most interesting features of the Southern Hemisphere sky, in a group of at most 10 participants for 90 minutes.

Galaxy Safari is a great opportunity if you are looking to enrich your trip to Canberra and learn more about Astronomy!

With a limited number of bookings available, it is recommended that you plan and book early to avoid disappointment!
